Set up in 1996 the R&D unit is headed by Dr. V.B. Shekar ,Ex-Director of Research of the Dr.Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth , Akola i.e. P.D.K.V. University of Agriculture . He is a well known plant breeder who was awarded the Krishi Bhushan , a prestigious award , by the Governor of also the Sir Chotu Ram Nation Award for his significant research contribution in crops like cotton and sorghum.

The R & D unit is recognized by Dept. of Science and industrial Research , Govt. of India , New Dhelhi. Our R & D unit has been engaged in research work on important crops in the area like cotton, Maize, pearl millet , sweet corn , wheat pigeon pea , sorghum . We have 30 acres of farm for R & D activities in Akola and 125 acres at Kanhri .

The Seeds Division is headed by Dr. B. G. Bathkal , Ex-Chancellor of PDKV university , Akola . He is the pioneer in work on development of cytoplasmic male sterility in cotton . The Seeds Division is undertaking various program of seed production on the field of local farmer to use high yielding varieties seeds.

We are dedicated to develop new hybrid and technologies for higher yields and technologies that will greatly enhance the portfitability of the farmer . Our utmost aim is to develop hybrid varieties tolerant to drought . We also set up advice cell to guide the farmer as regard what and when to sow according to the need of the market and the availability of water and climate.

Major expansion in SSP unit increading the capacity to 1.25 lakh ton/per annum.
 
Acquisition of SSP unit and granulation unit is under process and relocating it Western Maharashtra to cater growing needs of Western Maharashtra, Karnataka & Gujarat.
Acquisition of NPK granulation mixture fertilizer unit in western Maharashtra to cater special demand of Karnatka & Western Maharashtra .

   SEED DIVISION
Basant Agro has bulit up solid business relationship with American, Korean, Chinese and many other Eropean contries. In the beginning it concentrated in selling & introducing excellent local hybrid & varities into Vidarbha market. It has teamed up with renowned professionals who are engaged in working in seeds for more than 30 year, & are now proud to supply the best varieties. The company is planning to import excellent varieties of field crop like paddy, maize, fruits like melon, watermelon, tomatoes etc. for local market, Trail for these seeds has already started in various location. the company is also planning for seed production on large scal on basis in Andra Pradesh, Gujrat & Karnatka.
